The geological stucture and hydrocarbon prospects of Achimov strata
in Western-Nerutinsk petroleum area
DOI: 10.31087/0016‑7894‑2018‑2‑41‑50.

West‑Nerutinsky petroleum zone with its most part situated within the Neruti nsky mega‑depression is one of the regions underexplored and promising for hydrocarbon discovery in the West Siberian petroleum province. Potenti al of the Berriassian‑Lower Apti an producti ve sequence within the zone is associated primarily with lithological and combinati on traps in the layers of the Achimov sequence. Achimov sequence in the study area is a series of lenses of relati vely deepwater genesis, which are north‑westward younging and associated with two regional Valanginian clinoforms. Main reservoirs are AchBN15 and AchBN16. They are strati fi ed into three and five streaks, respecti vely, in which the independent oil and gas accumulati ons are already identi fi ed within the East‑Medvezhy area. This paper discusses geological structure and oil and gas potenti al of the Achimov sequence within the West‑Neruti nsky petroleum zone, characterises the reservoir properti es of producti ve layers, and analyses special features of their variati ons both through the secti on and over the area. Integrated interpretati on of well log data, 2D and 3D seismic data, and drilling results allows suggesting that a number of new hydrocarbon accumulati ons can be identi fi ed within the zone. Depocentres of sand material accumulati on within the structurally elevated areas are the most promising for hydrocarbon reservoirs searching. Reservoir limit of the East‑Medvezhy field can also be extended owing to the new deposits in the older and the younger formati ons with respect to those with the already identi fi ed hydrocarbon accumulations.
